Rubelli

Pila-47 by Nava+Nava Design for Rubelli.

Dreamed up to showcase Rubelli fabrics, Nava+Nava Design’s Pila-47 was named for the Italian manufacturer’s Marghera street address. The textile chair, as the studio calls it, takes the form of a reinforced wool-felt sleeve (it starts out looking like a fabric laundry basket) that slips over a wooden seat. As you repose, the back of the rim cleverly becomes a backrest. Measuring 85 inches high by 49 wide, the chair incorporates two fabrics: the dominant outer color and a contrasting interior. Ten combinations are on offer, but any textiles from the Rubelli library can be used.
