Derived from the verb velare, Latin for to veil, the new Velar is a direct descendant of Range Rover’s 1969 SUV prototype, only much less boxy. The rounded aluminum body, the second-smallest of the British car maker’s four luxury SUVs, sports LED headlights. Meanwhile, this interior eschews the macho leather-and-wood combo for the refinement of an automotive-grade wool blend from Kvadrat. The textile manufacturer, which also collaborated recently with fashion designer Raf Simons, is clearly on a hot streak.
