Top Picks from Decorex 2013

After several years at London’s The Royal Hospital Chelsea, this year Decorex International was held in a new venue at Kensington Palace. The theme of the event this year was “The Silk Route,” which designer Kit Kemp incorporated in her lavish design of the event’s main entrance. The champagne bar was designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, which played with the process of interior design and incorporated the theme of an unfinished building site into the design of the bar and surrounding seating areas. Themes prominent among exhibitors this year included painterly textiles, sculptural and organic shapes, particularly in lighting fixtures, and the use of birds and animals in prints, textiles, and even chandeliers. Decorex International is the longest running show in Britain.
