Two Exciting Bolon Flooring Launches

On the heels of high-powered collaborations with Ateliers Jean Nouvel and the fashion label Paul Smith,

Bolon

chief creative officer Marie Eklund persuaded choreographer Alexander Ekman to gather a consortium of theatrical and creative types for three days of talent-storming in Stockholm. The sessions spawned Silence, a series of vinyl flooring in two varieties: an Inca-inspired four-color pattern, sold in rolls, and six solid colors, offered in tiles or parquet-referencing planks. Later this year, the company will add sound-absorbent backing, perfect for the rehearsal studio.

On another front, the manufacturer continues its collaboration with Italian fashion house Missoni with a second collection of Bolon by Missoni. The new introductions are a sharp contrast to the vivid, high-energy hues of the first collection launched in 2012. Missoni’s classic Flame pattern takes on colors inspired by nature—rust, wood, stone and lush green foliage—evoking a warm, autumnal palette with Missoni’s signature contemporary spin.

“Misson is is the perfect partner,” says Bolon’s Marie Eklund. “They are experts when it comes to intricate patterns…The results are truly beautiful. Earthy and homely but very contemporary, adding a natural and endearing warmth to public spaces which can often be cool, harsh, uninviting and impersonal.”
