With Love From France: Tapestries by Caroline Bertrand
Before the September 11 terrorist attacks, when Windows on the World was still serving meals at the top of New York’s World Trade Center, one of the first things that restaurant patrons would see was a street-map tapestry by Caroline Bertrand. To show international solidarity with the city, Catherine and Philippe Pascal, owners of the Domaine du Cellier aux Moines vineyard in the Burgundy region of France, recently commissioned a replica from the Manufacture de Moroges, which hand-tufted the graphic in more than 40 colors of wool on a 160-square-foot backing. The result, first displayed outside a 13th-century building at the vineyard, has now been donated to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. 33-3-85-47-90-12;
