PL.architekci Crafts a Dazzling Addition to Fala Park
Poznań, Poland-based firm PL.architekci completed Fala Park, a lakeside sports and recreation complex in the Polish city of Wolsztyn, in 2012. Fast-forward to today, a decade later, when the owners decided to add a bar to the complex and gave PL.architekci a chance to return to the site for its design. It’s connected to the original building, but accessed through a separate entrance, with a clubby vibe that’s distinct from the fitness-focused space next door. The client was looking for “wow factor,” but the firm prefers a minimalist style without too many decorations. To satisfy both, they went with one big standout feature that is both aesthetic and practical. Curtains of shimmering gold chain hang from the ceiling, breaking up the open space into sections that create a more intimate atmosphere. They even hide the HVAC systems in the ceiling. Add some LED strips, plus walls of chip sprinkle paint, and the whole space dazzles.
